England Cricket Team

Read the England Cricket Teams advertising campaign case study where we used a 63 camera 120-degree bullet time rig with a 8 metre diameter.

About this project

We were working in Macau near Hong Kong, when we received a call asking for help to create this movie with both the mens and womens England Cricket Teams.

So we cancelled the play time at the end of the job in China, changed our flights and flew directly home from HK to London, just in time to set the rig up (with severe jet lag) with the talent arriving the next morning.

We used 120 degrees of an 8 meter diameter system and had with us 80 cameras. We only used 61 of them and put 2 Canon C300s on either end to capture the movement before and after the shot.

Also using our incredible controllable trigger system, which allows us to change the firing of the cameras. So rather than firing all at once, they could fire along the path sequentially, with precise controlled timing with accuracy of 1/10,000ths of a second.

We ramped the speed of the firing to start fast and then slow, and then other way around. This was all done on the fly, allowing us to not interrupt the shooting at all.

From the trigger being fired to a fully aligned preview movie, took about 12 seconds. Allowing the director to view it on the set moments after the shot was taken.

We provided the movies in 6K to the client, allowing them to digitally zoom in and not lose any quality and still keep the 4K resolution needed.

Client: INP Media Ltd

Category: Advertising Campaign

Equipment used

This was a bespoke rig with 82 cameras and 2 high speed end cameras. With our controllable trigger system firing all cameras individually within 1/10,000th of a second accuracy.

Post Production

On a production shoot, we use our experiential software for preview for the DOP/Directors etc, and then we work on the shot by hand and create perfectly aligned movies by hand.

Locations

We filmed this in the Ballroom at the Landmark Hotel over the road from Marylebone Station, London.

What did we create?

We created over 50 movies in different triggering patterns, this was compiled into an incredible movie showing each of the players different skills.
