Amazon Prime: You Are Wanted using bullet time rig with Hasselblad

About this project

Working with German company 3DS and BDA Creative, producing a 180 degree, 8-metre diameter Bullet Time rig in Berlin, using 72 DSLR cameras.

Shooting Matthias Schweighöfer running past being chased. We worked in collaboration with the incredible award-winning photographer Andreas Franke. We merged the bullet time rig system with his Hasselblad camera with our trigger system, allowing us to trigger all the cameras, plus the Hasselblad at the same time, to give a perfectly synced shot across all the cameras.

Creating a perfectly aligned, smooth shot of Matthias running past, this was captured in Canon RAW and JPGs, allowing maximum post-production to be done later on by the post teams.

The final bullet time results were then shown across Germany on huge billboards, bus stands, Above The Line (ATL) and Below The Line (BTL) advertising (which is TV, Internet and Print).

Equipment used

We created the rig using a 72 DSLR camera rig, we added a Hasselblad H6D as camera 1, to allow the first photo to be used for billboard quality.

Post Production

We created, aligned and provided the final movies to Andreas Frankes post production team, working very closely, to make sure the images we took were what they needed for the brief.

Location

We filmed in Spregraphen Studios in the incredible city of Berlin. Driving from Sunderland, used the ferry from North Shields to Amsterdam and drove to Berlin in one drive.

What we created

With the first camera being a Hasselblad linked into our trigger system, we produced created 50 shots over 2hrs, with 21 shots being perfect for the director to choose from.
