” Prada wanted us to bring the biggest rig we have made so far to their 24-karat gold-plated HQ in Milan at the Fondazione Prada.”

This is one of the biggest individual shoots NWD has ever done.  A huge client/brand, huge budgets, huge expectations, huge logistics issues, huge amount of tech required and a huge amount of team work and skill to successfully pull off the principal photography for one of the worlds biggest brands during a huge pandemic.

Prada wanted us to bring the biggest rig we have made so far to their 24-karat gold-plated HQ in Milan at the Fondazione Prada.

For this epic challenge we needed 240 Canon DSLRs, 30 computers, miles of wiring, custom truss, custom made camera trees, a large custom built set and loads of horrendous (to the back of the head) covid tests.

As “standard” the job was signed off last minute, leaving us 5 days to get to Milan and make it happen!  After driving to London for expensive private covid tests it was time for our wee van to make it’s 2nd trip over the Alps to Milan this year! We sent a colleague ahead via air from London.

The hardest task was getting our NWD colleague Mitch from Philadelphia to Milan with all the USA gear, 120 cameras and 10 tech boxes split over about 20 cases, there was no time or option to send the gear freight so it all had to be split up into individual check on’s. Nuff said that favours were called and big monies spent to make this happen during reduced flights and covid flight restrictions. Where there is a will, inevitably there is a way!
