Tinie Tempah – 3DGS

NWD was contacted by director Bugsy Steel and Greenroom films to make a unique advert for a Macallan X Bentley collaboration. We used 120 cameras on a huge 20m 180 degree truss curve so there was plenty of room for the multiple set & prop change overs required.  All the effects in the film are done in camera

Tinie Tempah - 3D Gaussian Splatting with the Argus Rig

Captured on Argus (40-cam), reconstructed as 3D Gaussian Splatting.

4D Gaussian Splatting - Tinie Tempah x Abi Flynn - Closer

Remember, this was shot in a 5m x 4m room, with the cameras packed together on a 4m x 2 meter frame. It WASN’T a full 360 sphere, the dancers were 2 meters in front of the cameras and the DOP used an £25 LED strip light from a hardware store. The conditions couldn’t have been any worse, and we still managed to get this!

Finished Video - Tinie Tempah x Abi Flynn - Closer

4.5m × 5m studio, with more than 25 people including crew, production and "observers"! 🙂

To fit the tight space, we created a clean fast setup camera rig with wiring designed to fit, tested in our studio before setting off.

Only Space For 60° Usable Camera Arc

We would normally use 180 degrees or more of an arc to get a good movement, but the client loved the idea of the digital artefacts to blend into the video, so was full aware of the outcome before we started.

Motion Blur Needed For Party Energy

We didn’t want it to look too crisp, we wanted some good motion blur to show movement and action. So we set the cameras to 1/30s exposure, so you could see the peoples faces, but blur them when dancing.

Shot the entire track multiple times, then the director chose which precise frame he needed to be 3D days later in post.
